This position is a non‑tenure accruing appointment with the possibility of renewal for up to two additional years. The University Writing Program offers a wide range of writing‑intensive courses. Postdoctoral Associates teach existing upper‑division courses such as Writing in the Law, Writing in the Medical Sciences, and Writing in the Humanities, and develop courses in their own areas of interest. The teaching assignment is 3/2.
Responsibilities
- Teach existing upper‑division courses in the Writing Program.
- Develop and redesign courses in discipline‑focused writing.
- Participate in faculty meetings and curriculum development activities.
- Provide student evaluations and assist with assessment of course learning outcomes.
- Engage in professional development and scholarly activity in composition, rhetoric, or related fields.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience teaching discipline‑focused writing.
- Expertise in composition and rhetoric, literature, or culture; interests encouraged in environmental or social justice rhetoric, digital and media studies, science writing, and public‑facing or community‑focused writing.
