Event Planner
The Stanford Computer Science Department is looking for an Event Planner to plan and execute departmental events such as our annual commencement, seminars, conferences, alumni events, and other related functions.
In This Role, You Will
Design, plan, implement, and coordinate customized events.
Evaluate and select vendors and providers of services considering stakeholder requests and requirements.
Serve as a member of an events team, contributing to budget allocation, logistics, and facilities decisions.
Consult with stakeholders to determine objectives and requirements.
Inspect event facilities to ensure they meet event needs.
Manage accounting operations related to registration, including daily procedures, reports, and final summaries.
May serve as project leader on smaller scale events, coordinating teams that plan, implement, and manage all aspects of events or manage program elements of larger scale events.
Utilize and maintain complex databases; may use specialized event planning software.
Inspect event facilities for maintenance, janitorial, and fire safety issues.
Other duties as assigned.
Education & Experience (Required)
Associate degree and three years of relevant experience, or a combination of education and experience that demonstrates equivalent competence.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities (Required)
Demonstrated success in planning events.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Ability to set priorities, manage shifting demands, and handle multiple time‑sensitive projects with several deadlines.
Demonstrated creativity, problem‑solving skills, initiative, judgment, and decision‑making skills.
Ability to accomplish goals through formal and informal channels, with diplomacy and tactfulness.
Excellent interpersonal, communication, time‑management, and customer‑service skills; well organized and detail oriented.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office and other online documents such as Google Docs.
Ability to collaborate with a broad spectrum of contributing groups and customers.
Certifications And Licenses
Must possess and maintain a valid California non‑commercial Class C Driver’s License.
Working Conditions
May require some travel and working evenings and weekends.
Physical Requirements
Frequently stand/walk, sit, perform desk‑based computer tasks, and use a telephone.
Occasionally kneel/crawl, twist/bend/stoop/squat, grasp lightly/fine manipulation, and grasp forcefully, lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh 21‑40 pounds.
Ability to drive day and night.

Pay Range The expected pay range for this position is $72,972 to $87,751 per annum.
