About the Role The

HID Component Senior Design Manager

leads a team of dedicated branded component managers, setting aesthetic direction for world‑class interior production components and concepts. The role integrates customer‑experience needs and brand differentiation into all interior product touchpoints. The manager directs, administers, and coordinates interior component integration work within the production design studio.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

Leading teams through strategic and execution phases of the design process.

Developing and maintaining matrixed strategies across vehicle programs, various brands, and multiple applications.

Facilitating the development of 2D and 3D representations of proposed design solutions with a focus on world‑class execution.

Working cross‑functionally with Design, Engineering, Program Teams, Sculpting, and Fabrication to develop design proposals.

Collaborating and enhancing critical relationships with design studio leaders, sculpting, engineering, manufacturing, and quality to diplomatically eliminate roadblocks.

Promoting urgency when design issues arise and proposing decisive solutions with cross‑functional partners to achieve mutually beneficial outcomes.

Making presentations of new thoughts and designs, both orally and visually.

Maintaining a strong sense of brand appropriateness and direction.

Understanding and negotiating criteria with engineers and branded design leaders.

Managing program timelines and proactively ensuring task completion.

Adhering to and developing common processes and best practices.

Staying well informed on global design trends, technology, production methods, materials, and supply‑base capability.

Technical Qualifications

Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Industrial, Automotive Design, or a related field.

Experience working through vehicle development processes using multiple software mediums.

10+ years of leading matrixed teams.

Experience with 3D modeling and understanding of 3D development.

Understanding of engineering requirements and limitations (plus).
