HID Component Senior Design Manager
will lead a team of dedicated branded component managers and corresponding teams, working to set the aesthetic direction for world‑class quality execution of innovative interior production components and concepts. This role will integrate customer experience‑focused needs and brand differentiation opportunities into all customer interaction touchpoints on product interiors. Directs, administers, and coordinates the overall interior component integration work within the production design studio environment.
Hybrid: The role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to the Warren GM Global Technical Center three times per week, at minimum. This job is eligible for relocation benefits.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
Leading teams through strategic and execution phases of design process.
Developing and maintaining matrixed strategies across vehicle programs, various brands, and multiple applications.
Facilitate the development of two‑ and three‑dimensional representations of proposed design solutions with a strong focus on world‑class execution.
Work cross‑functionally with Design, Engineering, Program Teams, Sculpting, Fabrication to develop design proposals.
Collaborate and enhance critical relationships with design studio leaders, sculpting, engineering, manufacturing, and quality to diplomatically eliminate roadblocks.
Promote a sense of urgency when design issues arise and propose decisive solutions in concert with cross‑functional partners to achieve a mutually beneficial solution.
Make presentations of new thoughts and designs, both orally and visually.
Strong sense of brand appropriateness and brand direction.
Understanding and ability to negotiate criteria with engineers and branded design leaders.
Understand program timelines and be proactive regarding task completion.
Adhere to and develop common processes and best practices.
Stay well informed on globally current and future design trends, technology, production methods, materials and supply‑base capability.
Technical Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or master's degree in industrial, automotive design, or related degree.
Experience working through vehicle development processes using multiple software mediums.
10 years’ experience leading matrixed teams.
Experience with 3D modeling and understanding of 3D development.
Understanding of engineering requirements/limitations a plus.
