Universal Creative Role overview: The Show Set Designer is responsible for the design, development, and documentation of the overall attraction, scenic and show elements primarily utilizing architectural and CAD software as a design and coordination tool. This includes development of virtual and physical models, scene studies, renders, plans, sections, drawings and drawing packages depicting design and art direction. The role supports the Creative Design team by assisting the Senior Show Set Designer, Production Designer, Art Director, and Creative Director in developing details that integrate the show, facility, equipment, and elements into the overall creative environment. The designer coordinates show and facility elements within the drawing package and uses drafting techniques, 3D modeling and drawing tools (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, 3ds Max, Maya, Adobe Graphics software) to model, draw, draft and create dimensional drawings and models detailing the design intent and integration with the facility. Design work should align with project program and budget and coordinate with engineering, operations, and architect/engineer of record. Major Responsibilities

Conceives, develops, and iterates ride and show design elements that are assembled into a high-quality show set design package. The package articulates the creative design intent and details elements such as scenery, special effects, show action equipment, animated figures, props, audio equipment, lighting equipment, and more. Designs the creative development and iteration of ride and show design elements focusing on scenic, props, environment, architecture, facility, sightlines, and scale through various development phases. Develops and manages the show set design package, including presentation materials such as sketches, storyboards, layouts, illustrations, plans, sections, and elevations. Participates in design, cost, schedule, and technical reviews, and develops creative and feasible solutions to integrate elements into a themed environment. Mentors and provides guidance and training to staff related to career goals and technical skills; motivates staff to accomplish assignment goals; leads staff with clear expectations and planning. Establishes positive team relationships with project partners, departments, disciplines, and personnel; communicates project intent and maintains collaboration. Understands and participates in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following policy, procedures, and training. Performs other duties as assigned. Additional Information

Must be creative, innovative, organized, and capable of problem solving with strong technical and artistic ability using show set/scenic design, drafting, 3D modeling, architectural design, and related tools. Proficient in AutoCAD and Revit; 3D modeling and rendering skills preferred. Strong communication and collaboration skills; able to work effectively in a team. Ability to collaborate with a wide variety of aesthetic, technical and project management disciplines. Supervisory responsibilities may apply in line with organizational policies and applicable laws. Education

Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred (Architecture, Fine Arts, Design, Theater, Graphics, Computer Animation, etc.). Experience

4+ years within an attraction development environment is required or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have designed, developed and assembled several project show set design packages or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
