Job Summary Augusta University's Department of Art and Design is seeking to fill a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor in Graphic Design, anticipated to begin August 2026. The position carries a 2/2 teaching load with opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration, community engagement, and professional practice.
Responsibilities
Teach two studio courses per semester in foundation and graphic design (BFA and BA concentrations).
Develop and enhance departmental curricula while contributing to program growth.
Mentor and advise undergraduate students, supporting portfolio development and professional preparation.
Maintain an active program of creative research or scholarship with regional, national, or broader impact.
Contribute to departmental, college, and university service through committees and community engagement.
Required Qualifications MFA in Graphic Design or a closely related field, or equivalent terminal degree in the appropriate discipline. In exceptional cases, candidates with equivalent professional experience and demonstrated accomplishments may be considered.
Preferred Qualifications
Evidence of effectiveness as a teacher and potential to excel in mentoring undergraduate students.
Evidence of ongoing scholarly or creative activity with potential for regional, national, or broader impact.
A combination of industry and teaching experience is highly desirable.
