Job Description
Overview
Phoenix Group of Virginia is hiring a Level III Technical Writer in Chesapeake, VA. This position has overall responsibility for developing, editing, and maintaining design specifications, technical manuals, and related documentation, with a focus on translating complex engineering concepts into clear, compliant materials adhering to DoD standards (e.g., MIL-STD-961). The role requires collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, ensuring accuracy, version control, and timely delivery in a secure environment. Preferred qualifications: Bachelor's in Technical Writing, Engineering, or related field; 8+ years’ experience in defense-related technical documentation. Functional Responsibility
Writes advanced documents, ensures technical documents are within DoD standards. Responsibilities
Developing complex content, editing for compliance, and collaborating with stakeholders. Candidates must have 8+ years of technical writing experience in defense, with advanced skills in Microsoft Office, writing tools, and DoD processes. Drive innovative technical writing solutions for mission-critical defense initiatives, with opportunities for leadership and professional growth. Design practical solutions for DoD engineering initiatives. Position Requirements
8+ years relevant experience with bachelor’s in engineering. Ability to work independently. Preferred Qualifications
Strong knowledge of relevant field standards and Microsoft Office proficiency, CAD experience. Qualifications
