Overview
To develop, lead, and manage internal communication programs and campaigns, including workplace, culture, crisis, change and strategy. The Manager I manages professionals and/or leaders and is accountable for the performance and results of a team. Decisions are guided by policies, resources and business plans. Develop, manage and guide execution of enterprise-facing communications plans to achieve business objectives.
Pay Range Base pay range: $111,600.00/yr - $163,100.00/yr
Responsibilities
Collaborate with and build excellent relationships with other leadership to develop and implement communication plans that align with the company's goals, priorities and values
Guide fellow high‑performing internal communicators (both direct reports and non‑direct reports who are individual contributors and leaders) in building best‑practice internal communications plans, producing content that uses storytelling to exemplify our culture, and measuring for data‑driven insights and outcomes
Create and manage inspiring and engaging content for various internal communication channels
Drive initiatives that enhance employee engagement and foster a positive company culture
Support communication efforts related to organizational change, ensuring employees are well‑informed throughout transitions
Monitor and analyze the effectiveness of communication strategies, using data to make informed decisions and improvements
Work closely with internal stakeholders, including HR, marketing, and senior leadership, to ensure consistent and transparent communication across the organization
Maintain high standards for communication excellence and ensure all content meets the company's quality and brand guidelines
Oversee the copy writing, editing, and curation of content for internal communications, ensuring alignment to NFCU strategy, consistency in tone, style, and messaging
Manage a functionally similar team; adapt plans and set priorities to meet service and operational goals
Make recommendations for solutions or improvements to business processes that can be accomplished through new technology or alternative uses of existing technology
Ensure policies, practices and procedures are understood and followed by direct reports, customers and stakeholders
Consistently report on progress, challenges and potential solutions
Offer strategic solutions to challenges and ideas for how to use budget to drive strategy and priorities
Drive innovation by proposing and implementing new trends, tools to enhance the team’s creative output, improve efficiency and maintain competitive edge
Drive continuous improvement through disciplined measurement, analysis and adjustment
Translate the identified communication needs of the business areas into unified communication plans and approaches
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Journalism, English, Marketing or the equivalent combination of education, training or experience
Extensive relative work experience
Track record of building strong‑performing teams and managing high‑caliber talent
Experience blending internal communications in collaboration with and spanning cross‑function teams, preferably for a large, complex organization
Proficient in Associated Press Style
Knowledge of internal communications, the employee services/program field and employee/corporate communications principles
Advanced knowledge of and experience with change management principles and practice, crisis, and culture‑related communications
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong judgement, problem solving and organizational skills, superb attention to detail and the ability to interpret business initiatives in a simple, compelling way for diverse audiences across the company
Expert knowledge of internal communications, the employee services/program field and employee/corporate communications principles
Broad knowledge of the functional area with demonstrated leadership skills
Ability to guide, influence and persuade others, primarily internally
Ability to influence others internally and externally, including leaders, vendors
Advanced written and verbal communication skills, strong judgement, problem solving and organizational skills and the ability to interpret business initiatives in a simple, compelling way for diverse audiences
Advanced skill working with diverse internal audiences
