Job Summary
The Director of Sales and Marketing (DOSM) will develop and implement sales and marketing strategies for The Loren Hotel, securing new accounts and maintaining existing accounts to maximize profitability and guest satisfaction.
Responsibilities
Direct the hotel's sales activities and ensure that the Sales Team meets their goals as laid out in the annual Marketing Plan.
Accountable for controlling the Marketing and Social Budget to the agreed annual level.
Conduct prospecting sales calls at agreed quota.
Make in-person appointments including hotel site tours.
Book new business through proactive solicitation.
Be familiar with competition in the market/competitive set.
Maintain accurate account files and records of all guest contacts.
Maintain effective guest trace and file system.
Prepare weekly sales call reports on all sales activity and submit to the General Manager.
Coordinate and execute sales blitzes for the hotel as necessary.
Assist with producing, executing, and updating the annual Sales, Marketing, and Revenue.
Assist in training guest service representatives and property management team on selling skills and other sales-related training.
Participate and/or attend hospitality and community organizations/events to include the local chamber and other community/networking events.
Assist with ensuring all sales collateral is current, accurate, and portrays a professional image for the hotel.
Establish and maintain effective employee working relations both within the department and with other departments.
Attend selected trade and travel functions, i.e. trade shows and local Hotel and Tourist Association meetings to promote sales and image for the hotel.
Plan and execute sales trips to major market areas and report new potential market areas that should be covered.
Work closely with PR firm.
Coordinate all media related to marketing (newspaper, magazines, billboards, radio, web, social media).
Formulate an annual S&M plan incorporating clear action plans for all departments.
Continually analyze and review local market changes.
Analyze financial and competitive data to make informed decisions.
Provide high-quality service to customers, creating appropriate solutions to boost revenue growth.
Effectively manage and motivate the sales and catering team.
Maintain close relationships with all key decision-makers in local markets.
Perform any other reasonable duties as required by the Managing Director and COO.
Education / Formal Training
Minimum 2 years hotel management experience.
Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, marketing, or related college degree, preferred.
At least 2 years of progressive hotel sales experience preferred; or a 4-year college degree and at least 1 year of related experience; or a 2-year college degree and at least 2 years of related experience.
Experience
Luxury Market experience, Luxury Boutique Lifestyle experience, preferred, Knowledge of Leisure Markets, Knowledge of Travel Agent Sales.
Digital Marketing, experience handling Public Relations & Communications Agencies.
Experience in Hotel Opening or Independent Hotel Brand, preferred.
Must have a valid driver’s license in the applicable state.
Knowledge / Skills
Highly developed verbal & written communication skills for negotiation and influencing.
Proficient professional selling skills: opening, probing, supporting, closing.
Strong analytical skills and strategic vision in establishing appropriate sales deployment.
Proficient in general computer knowledge, especially Microsoft Office.
Independently manage multiple tasks.
Strong organization and presentation skills.
Demonstrated ability to interact and manage people of diverse backgrounds while solving complex problems and building a productive sales team.
Advanced knowledge of sales/marketing/hospitality profession principles and practices.
Work well under high pressure, maintain composure and objectivity.
Understand financial information and data, basic arithmetic functions.
Physical Requirements
Able to safely perform essential job functions consistent with ADA, FMLA, and local standards.
Maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with ADA, FMLA, and local standards.
Able to work nights and weekends per business demands.
Stand at least 60%.
Sit and squat frequently.
