Job Summary
The Division of Public Safety at the University of Colorado Boulder seeks a highly skilled and motivated Video Systems Manager to oversee the operation, maintenance, and enhancement of the university’s security camera infrastructure. The Video Systems Manager will report to the Executive Director of Technology, Public Safety and will ensure the effective design, deployment, maintenance, and lifecycle management of video surveillance systems across campus in alignment with university public safety objectives. The ideal candidate will have technical expertise in security systems and surveillance technologies, a strong ability to analyze and resolve complex issues, and the capacity to collaborate with cross‑functional teams. System Management
Manage enterprise video platforms including configuration, licensing, updates, and performance monitoring. Perform regular system audits to verify the functionality, coverage, and compliance of security camera systems. Develop and maintain integration of video systems with access control, alarm, and emergency notification platforms. Operational Oversight
Lead capital and operational projects related to video system upgrades, expansions, and replacements. Direct contracted services for installation, maintenance, and support of video systems, ensuring quality control and adherence to standards. Coordinate operational response during campus emergencies to ensure video assets support public safety needs. Team Collaboration
Oversee the design, integration, and deployment of new video systems and expansions in coordination with Public Safety, IT, and Facilities. Provide technical training and support to staff responsible for operating and monitoring video management systems. Create and manage an annual maintenance program, monitoring compliance for accountability. Strategic Planning
Collaborate with university leadership to align video system initiatives with broader public safety strategies. Serve as a subject matter expert for video system architecture and lifecycle planning. Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend solutions that enhance system performance, scalability, and resilience. Conduct risk assessments to identify vulnerabilities and recommend mitigation strategies for video systems. Compensation and Benefits

Bachelor’s degree in Security Management, Information Technology, or a related field (education and experience may substitute year‑for‑year). Minimum of 5 years of experience administering enterprise‑level video management systems. Experience managing vendor contracts and overseeing third‑party installations and service. Ability to obtain certification in Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) is required. Technical Skills
In-depth knowledge of enterprise video management systems (VMS) and related technologies. Strong understanding of network infrastructure and system integrations with access control and alarm platforms. Capacity to balance strategic planning with hands‑on system administration and operational oversight. Soft Skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills to interact with technical and non‑technical partners. Strong leadership and team‑building skills to guide staff and foster collaboration across departments. Ability to develop and deliver clear documentation, reports, and training materials. Preferred Qualifications
