We operate a small college-like campus in Fair Oaks that houses many of our students full-time. We are seeking an experienced marketing/communications professional who is creative and dedicated to Meristem’s mission. The

Marketing and Content Strategist

is responsible for developing, creating, and sharing Meristem’s transformative work across Meristem’s website, social media, and public outreach. The ideal candidate is highly motivated, a self-starter, and strategic, with a proven track record of implementing successful marketing initiatives. As an integral team member, the

Marketing and Content Strategist

is responsive to program needs and creatively markets Meristem’s social enterprise businesses, including the Meristem Cafe and the Transformative Autism Program (TAP).

Status:

Exempt, Full-time

Schedule:

Monday–Friday 8:00 am – 5:00 pm (some evenings/weekends for occasional development events)

Salary:

$65,000 - $75,000 annually

Job Responsibilities

Content Creation & Storytelling

Develop and manage a content calendar aligned with strategic priorities for Meristem, Transformative Autism Program (TAP), and Meristem Cafe

Capture original photos, videos, and student/partner stories to create reels, blog posts, newsletters, and social media content

Lead social media engagement across Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn; track and optimize post-performance for all Meristem brands

Manage podcast and video series promotion, lead editing and distribution

Write, design, and distribute monthly newsletters and digital updates across internal and external audiences

Layout and distribute the Meristem Monitor, a weekly email newsletter to Meristem families and staff

Support Meristem public relations under the leadership of the Development Director by drafting press releases and maintaining media lists

Website & Digital Marketing

Maintain and update the meristem.pro, tapautism.org, and meristemcafe.com websites (WordPress)

Coordinate email campaigns and segmented list outreach

Track analytics and make data-informed adjustments to improve engagement

Event & Social Enterprise Marketing

Design digital and print materials for events, campaigns, and social enterprise promotions

Drive event marketing strategy to increase attendance and visibility for campus events and fundraisers

Develop compelling marketing for Meristem’s Cafe, herbal product line, and campus bed and breakfast (B&B)

Represent Meristem at public events; attend and document key moments (occasional evenings/weekends)

Oversee Meristem collateral and branded material, and coordinate reorders

Strategic Collaboration

Collaborate across departments to identify “story-worthy” moments

Support sponsorship, donor delivery, and donor communications alongside the Development Team

Coordinate with contractors for web design, graphic design, or PR support as needed

Contribute to student enrollment, donor engagement, scholarship outreach, and employer outreach strategies

Qualifications

3-5 years of experience in a marketing or communications role

Experience with WordPress CMS and email marketing tools like MailChimp, including SEO and web accessibility standards

Experience with graphic design principles and tools like Canva and Adobe Suite, including video editing software

Proficient in Google Suite and customer relationship management databases (e.g., Bloomerang)

Knowledgeable of social media best practices

Maintain and enforce photo permission records

Superior verbal and written communication skills

Ability to think of creative solutions in evolving situations

Engage in regular self-development work as a part of the Meristem culture

Ability to lift 50 pounds

Ability to move in uneven terrain on campus as needed to capture content

Initiate research and evidence-based assessment of marketing strategies

Lived experience with or interest in the neurodiverse/autistic population

Ability to learn and understand Waldorf education principles and approaches –

preferred
