Position Summary
The Communication/Engagement Strategist is a full-time, salaried position, reporting to the Chief Philanthropy Officer. This team member is responsible for helping develop communication and engagement strategies to support Brown County United Way’s mission, fundraising and relationship management strategies. This involves, but is not limited to, content creation and graphic design for digital media, print media, and media relations; supporting the design and creation of materials for the organization’s Shared Purpose initiative and affinity group (Community Champions); and assisting in developing other strategies designed to build relationships with new and existing donors.
Qualities and Qualifications The ideal team member believes in diversity, equity and inclusion for all people; is passionate about improving the quality of life for everyone in Brown County; has the ability to work autonomously and collaboratively; is highly organized, flexible and can effectively multitask; has excellent oral and written communication skills; experience in brand management, communications, web design and maintenance and social media management. Bachelor’s degree and media relations experience preferred and/or equivalent experience in communications, public relations or marketing.
Key Responsibilities Under the direction of and in cooperation with the Chief Philanthropy Officer shall:
Manage marketing communications
Implement and update annual marketing communications plan
Ensure United Way global and local brand alignment and integration
Manage partner and vendor relationships to produce brand aligned content
Oversee primary tools for Brown County United Way brand
Manage the digital media strategy
Create and monitor content on social media channels
Manage/update website including content and design (WordPress platform) and overall strategy
Analyze the long-term needs of the organization’s digital marketing strategy and recommend strategies for growth
Manage macro-level donor communications
In collaboration with the Chief Philanthropy Officer, Campaign Strategist, Resource Development Committee and Marketing Committee, participate in the creation of all campaign materials including rack cards, posters, videos and advertising, etc.
Assist in the writing and layout of the monthly newsletters and/or other mass communications
Assist in media relations
Participate in the identification and creation of news releases and other media relations activities
Develop and maintain relationships with local media outlets
Support the growth of donor affinity groups including but not limited to Community Champions
In collaboration with group leadership, create annual goals and strategies
Facilitate group meetings and projects to drive awareness of and engagement with Community Champions.
Assist in the planning and execution of organization’s special events such as donor recognition events
Solicit in-kind contributions and sponsorships as necessary
Attend resource development and communication training programs based on identified needs
Other duties as assigned
Work Environment We offer a hybrid work model, enabling staff to work both in the office and remotely. We also have a dress your day policy allowing employees to select appropriate dress for the business of each workday.
