The Preconstruction, Virtual Design and Construction Lead Designer’s role is twofold: the first is to work closely with our in-house or external VDC team to ensure Comfort Systems USA Southwest (CSUSA-SW) standards are incorporated into mechanical and/or plumbing system designs, within project requirements. The second is to model and interpret the design intent into a constructable building. The following outlines, but is not limited to, the essential duties and responsibilities of this position. (Other duties may be assigned): Participate in constructability meetings to understand project scope and proposed changes. Collaborate with the Construction Project Manager to finalize the VDC Scope of Work and deliverables. Assist with and provide RFI language and documentation to support RFIs as needed. Coordinate with clients, project owners, and design teams to align mechanical and plumbing systems, providing solutions for conflicts and collisions. Meet weekly with the VDC team to address challenges and resolve issues to meet project expectations. Review BIM models and related drawings for completeness and accuracy. Immediately communicate any issues that may delay project deliverables to the VDC Manager. Collaborate with project teams to review models and drawings, addressing concerns proactively. Develop VDC documentation and guidelines for project adherence. Enhance discipline-specific design details to improve mechanical duct, pipe, and plumbing systems. Support internal project teams and external stakeholders with technical expertise and software tools. Interpret construction documents and coordinate models internally and externally. Produce high-quality deliverables with minimal rework. Execute tasks within given parameters and maintain proficiency in relevant software platforms. Support business development initiatives. Qualifications To perform successfully, candidates should meet the following minimum requirements: Associate degree or equivalent, or 3-5 years related experience. Ability to read and interpret technical and construction documents. Proficiency with MS Office, Navisworks, Bluebeam, Autodesk Revit Fabrication. Strong problem-solving and reasoning skills. Physical ability to perform job duties, including lifting up to 50 pounds and working in varied environments.
