Coordinator, Instructional Design (Full‑Time, Tenure‑Track) – Madera Community College Essential Functions

The successful candidate will be an equity‑minded leader who supports student success through collaboration with faculty, staff, administration, students, and community partners.

Teach a full schedule of developmental and transfer‑level Instructional Design courses;

Collaborate with faculty and staff to plan, design, develop, and test new and revised courses and programs;

Partner with the Distance Education Coordinator to ensure courses meet compliance and quality standards;

Create customized online training on best practices for online pedagogy for distance education;

Provide consultative support and training to faculty on instructional design, pedagogy, curriculum development, assessment design, and technology integration;

Deliver workshops and professional development sessions on instructional technologies and educational best practices;

Research, evaluate, and assist in the selection, testing, and implementation of hardware, software tools, and emerging technologies;

Develop and distribute learning materials in multiple formats (print, graphics, audio, video, animation, multimedia);

Create and publish user documentation for supported instructional technology tools;

Identify instructional needs and recommend appropriate strategies;

Stay current with emerging instructional software, technologies, and pedagogical strategies by attending conferences and seminars;

Provide training and support to faculty on accessibility standards and practices, including Universal Design for Learning and ADA Section 508 compliance;

Consult and provide training in universal design for learning, instructional design principles, course design, and best practices in face‑to‑face and distance education modalities;

Support faculty with Learning Management Systems (Canvas) and oversee the multimedia studio;

Participate in accreditation processes;

Serve on department, college, and district committees as needed;

Participate in program review, student learning outcome development, and assessment to improve student learning;

Teach in a variety of instructional settings and times, including evening, weekends, online, or off‑campus large‑group instruction, as needed;

Fulfill all duties and responsibilities of faculty as required by Administrative Regulation 7122;

Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Master’s degree in Instructional Design/Technology, Educational Technology, or equivalent; or

Valid California Community College Credential; or

Equivalent education and/or experience.

Evidence of responsiveness to, and understanding of, the diverse backgrounds of community college students and the need for equity‑minded practice in the classroom.

Desirable Qualifications

Experience incorporating diversity, equity, and inclusion into all areas of responsibility;

Recent experience working with racially and ethnically minoritized students in higher education;

Work experience with students of various cultural, gender, age, socioeconomic, and disability backgrounds;

Willingness to examine and remediate one’s instructional practices to more effectively engage minoritized students;

Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with students and staff;

Proficiency with eLearning development tools (e.g., Captivate, Articulate, Camtasia, Panopto, Adobe Creative Suite) and multimedia software;

Experience with interactive videoconferencing classrooms and related technology;

Experience in instructional design, instructional technology, teaching, and training in higher education settings;

Advanced skills in Microsoft Office, web and media‑based educational technologies;

Commitment to staying current with emerging educational technologies;

Knowledge of the community college mission and goals.

Conditions of Employment

178 duty days per year, prorated based on start date.

Salary and Benefits

Starting annual salary ranges from $71,054 to $106,970 based on education and experience.

An annual doctoral stipend of $2,419 is available.

The district offers medical, dental, vision, life insurance, and CalSTRS retirement benefits.
