This full-time, exempt, salaried position assists the Austin Music Office and Marketing Department in management of booking musicians and coordinating experiential marketing as well as serving as a community liaison for the music, tourism and hospitality industry. There are a number of duties including management of the office’s social media identities as well as database management, marketing tasks and general duties to assist the public with music and event inquiries. Summary of Position and Duties
Support “Hire an Austin Musician” program, vetting artists, as well as booking for event inquiries, supporting performance logistics and event tracking for Visit Austin events, conferences, meetings and corporate events. Administrative support for the Music Department including artist and event contracts, musician payment and check processing, as well as travel booking, logistics and event expense reports. Support Music Office and Marketing department experiential activities from concepting, musician outreach and contracting, artist travel logistics, itinerary to onsite support as needed, including assisting in vendor management, contracts, exhibit development, and event execution as needed. Oversee and grow @MusicAustin social media platforms, overseeing both office’s online presence as well as special promotions, giveaways, video content and events. Manage and grow the Hire an Austin Musician artist database, regularly checking links, adding new artists and contacts for accuracy. Refresh the website and public calendars and blogs highlighting local events and festivals in the music community. Support sponsorship and in-kind trade and music festival organic and paid promotional plans. Support as needed for music organizations, festivals, non-profits, venues and the local business community presentations or meetings. Assist in execution of integrated marketing and strategic plan for music and marketing related projects and special promotions. Perform other tasks and administrative duties as required. Key Qualifications and Skill Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree and 1-3 years’ experience in a similar position required. Self-starter with a passion for live music who can problem solve and work well in both independent and team environments. Knowledgeable about social media and other online marketing tools. Excellent writing, copy editing and proofreading skills. Skilled at managing travel itineraries. Familiarity with the Austin area, music venues, districts and festivals. Experience in any of the following areas is a plus: live event touring / performance, tourism marketing, music booking/contracting, and video production. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Teams, Google Drive, Sprout (or other social media admin platform). Role will require travel 10% of the time.
