Position Details: Kilgore College is seeking a Guitar Instructor to join our Music Department. The ideal candidate will provide high-quality instruction to students of varying skill levels, fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment. The Guitar Instructor will teach individual lessons to both music majors and non-majors, prepare students for performances and auditions, plan and execute recitals and other performances, and contribute to the development of the music program. Responsibilities: This is an adjunct faculty position. Responsibilities will include teaching one or more Music courses, developing appropriate course syllabi, and working with students as needed. Provide individual lessons to students at different levels of proficiency Develop and implement lesson plans that cater to the needs and goals of each student Prepare students for performances, auditions, and other related activities Evaluate student progress and provide constructive feedback to help them improve their techniques and overall performance Collaborate with other music faculty to plan and execute recitals, concerts, and other events Stay current with pedagogy and performance practices to ensure high-quality instruction Maintain accurate records of student attendance, progress, and achievements Foster a positive, inclusive, and supportive learning environment for all students Minimum Qualifications: Masters in Music, or a related field, with an emphasis in Guitar Teaching experience at the college level or in a similar educational setting Experience performing at a professional level Demonstrated proficiency in a variety of styles and techniques Strong communication and interpersonal skills Ability to inspire and motivate students Commitment to student success and academic excellence Audition/Interview Interested candidates should submit the following: A cover letter detailing their teaching philosophy and relevant experience A current resume or CV Contact information for three professional references (Optional) Links to recent performances or recordings Unofficial transcripts for all degrees and related degree work Candidates will be interviewed via Zoom, and finalists will be invited to perform a teaching demonstration. Salary Range & Fringe Benefits: Salary for adjunct faculty members is based upon level of education and ranges from $1,900 per 3-hour course for a master's degree to $2,100 per 3-hour course for a doctorate Worker’s compensation Limited Part-Time Retirement Plan Kilgore College does not participate in the federal Social Security program. All full-time positions are located in Kilgore, TX. No fully remote work positions are available at this time. All employees must be available to physically present to work on the Kilgore, TX or Longview, TX Campus. Some Part-Time and Adjunct positions may be offsite, but the candidate must live in the State of Texas.
