RECREATION THERAPIST (Music/Art Therapy) – Laurel Oaks Behavioral Health Center

Laurel Oaks Behavioral Health Center is a 118-bed Acute Psychiatric Hospital and Residential Treatment Center for children and adolescents ages four through eighteen. The facility includes the New Day Academy, a year-round K-12 school with vocational opportunities. The hospital employs approximately 195 staff members.

Location: Southeast Alabama, near Florida and Georgia. The campus spans about 55,000 square feet on roughly 10 acres.

Responsibilities

Designs and initiates appropriate therapeutic services to improve patients’ physical, mental, and emotional well-being. Therapeutic services include, but are not limited to: entertainment, exercise, relaxation, expression, music, art, pet and other recreational programs.

Work schedule: Monday–Thursday 10:30 a.m.–7:00 p.m., rotating Fridays 10:30 a.m.–7:00 p.m., rotating weekends Saturday–Sunday 8:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m.

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Recreational Therapy or a related field. Certification in Music/Art or related Therapy fields.

Experience: Preferred – One year of experience in program development and implementation of therapeutic recreation activities in an inpatient psychiatric hospital.
