Job Details Supervised by: Director of Learning Commons Library Department: Learning Commons Library Grade: Work Study Category: Work Study Status: Exempt Function: Assist Learning Commons Library staff with general processes and services. Responsibilities Issue library cards Process loans, renewals, and returns Shelve materials in appropriate areas Search catalogs/files to determine if material is in collection or in process Check shipment invoices to ensure all items are present Check condition of new material Process new material for useProvide usage and directional information to LC users Assist users with finding online resources Assist users in operation of LC equipment Perform other duties as reasonably assigned by Learning Commons Library staff Essential Functions Provide oral and written responses to students’ questions and assist faculty with general guidance Display professionalism and confidentiality in all matters Use computers Use general office equipment Requirements Federal Work-Study provides part-time jobs for undergraduate and graduate students with financial need, allowing them to earn money to help pay educational expenses. The program encourages community service work and work related to the student’s course of study. Students participating in the Federal Work Study Program are paid minimum wage and can work up to 20 hours per week. The student is not guaranteed a set number of hours per week. To qualify, applicants must: Be enrolled half-time (or greater) at the College (half-time is 6cr for fall/spring and 3cr for summer) Be enrolled in an eligible degree or certificate program Be in good academic standing Have eligibility (financial need) as determined by the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) Equal Opportunity Statement SVCC is an equal opportunity employer and is interested in receiving applications from individuals.
