Marketing and Development Manager
– Presumpscot Regional Land Trust (PRLT)
About PRLT The Presumpscot Regional Land Trust conserves and stewards essential lands and waters throughout the Presumpscot River watershed and builds deep community connections through trails, water access, education, and partnerships. We manage over 3,000 acres of conserved lands, 30+ miles of public trails, and a regional water quality monitoring program.
PRLT’s newly developed Donor Engagement and Fundraising Plan provides a blueprint for how we communicate our mission, connect with our diverse audiences, and inspire lasting support through data‑driven, relationship‑centered strategies.
At the heart of this strategy are three bold messaging pillars:

Trail Expansion for All , and
See Yourself in the Land Trust .
By aligning our outreach and fundraising efforts around these pillars, we aim to increase web traffic, grow social media reach, achieve 100% donor retention, attract more new donors, and use clear measurement and reporting to track impact.
Position Summary The Marketing and Development Manager is a key leadership role responsible for expanding community engagement, deepening donor relationships, and amplifying PRLT’s brand and mission. The ideal candidate will be a skilled storyteller, strategic thinker, and relationship builder who can execute effective donor development plans while elevating PRLT’s visibility across digital and traditional platforms.
Key Responsibilities Development (60%)
Collaborate with the Executive Director to implement and refine PRLT’s annual development plan.
Steward existing donors and cultivate new supporters across individual, corporate, and foundation sectors.
Manage donor database, ensuring accurate tracking, segmentation, and reporting.
Develop and execute the annual appeal, stewardship mailings, and targeted campaigns.
Support major gift strategies and legacy giving cultivation.
Plan and support donor events and partner recognition efforts.
Marketing and Communications (40%)
Design and lead PRLT’s marketing and communications strategy to grow our audience and deepen engagement.
Manage the Land Trust’s digital presence, including website updates, email marketing, and social media.
Write and produce newsletters, press releases, blog posts, donor stories, and promotional materials.
Support event promotion, project launches, and public relations efforts.
Collaborate with program staff to document and share impact through compelling content.
Develop a volunteer‑led monthly events calendar.
Measure and improve marketing campaign strategies to increase reach and donor engagement.
Required Skills & Experience
3–5 years of experience in nonprofit development, communications, marketing, or a related field.
Proven success in donor stewardship, fundraising campaign management, or a related sustained campaign.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills; confident storyteller and copywriter.
Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and follow-through.
Familiarity with CRM systems (e.g., Little Green Light, Salesforce, HubSpot) and email marketing platforms (MailChimp, Proze, etc.).
Proficient in Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar for basic graphic design and layout.
Demonstrated commitment to equity, inclusion, and authentic community engagement.
Ability to work the occasional evenings and weekends.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in a land trust or environmental nonprofit is a plus but not required.
Understanding of the Southern Maine community and conservation landscape is a plus but not required.
Photography, video, or visual storytelling skills.
Experience with branding and audience development.
