COMMUNICATIONS OFFICER – City of Cape Girardeau Police Department

As the vital link between citizens and first responders, you’ll play a key role in helping save lives and protect our community.
Pay & Benefits
Hourly Pay: $18.58
Benefits include (valued at $19,552/year)
12 paid holidays/year
96 hrs vacation & 96 hrs sick leave/year

Responsibilities
Answer & dispatch 911 emergency calls
Assist callers during medical, fire, and police emergencies
Monitor radio traffic and citywide surveillance systems
Track unit locations using CAD systems
Support jail security operations
Stay calm and professional during high-stress events
Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent
No felony convictions
Certification by Missouri State Highway Patrol within 1 year
Willingness to meet ongoing education requirements
Preferred:
Experience as a public safety dispatcher
