Job Summary Reporting to the College of Liberal Arts Director of Marketing and Communications, the Marketing Specialist will support or manage the production of a wide range of strategic marketing and communication efforts aimed at advancing the position of the RIT College of Liberal Arts and its programs. Skill requirements include writing for both digital and print publishing, social media marketing, social media visual content creation, web publishing using content management systems, email marketing content creation, publishing schedule coordination, and project management.
Job Responsibilities
Writing and Research for Marketing and Communications
Create written copy for materials including print and electronic publications, social media, emails, news stories, student/alumni/faculty profiles, newsletters, news briefs, event listings, advertising, and other media as assigned.
Research, including gathering and fact‑checking information to prepare accurate written copy while meeting deadlines.
In alignment with RIT editorial style and brand standards, copywriting, editing, and proofreading of materials as they are readied for publication.
Social Media
Content creation for social media including video, text, and photographic content for College of Liberal Arts social media.
Contribute to a library of photo, video, and graphic assets for social media publishing.
Schedule posts and manage daily tasks and activities for all social media outlets including monitoring feedback, comments, and mentions.
Stay up-to-date with changes in social platforms best practices and emerging trends.
Manage social media student worker.
Attend RIT Social Media Advisory Council meetings held by the Director of Social Media.
Monitor social media posts by faculty for potential stories.
Assist with KPI reporting of College of Liberal Arts social media.

Required Qualifications Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in marketing and communications content production and publishing for digital and traditional marketing.
Skills
Social Media: Use of social media as a marketing tool; publishing calendar management; KPI tracking and reporting; content creation; and social media content publishing and management tools such as Brandwatch or Sprout Social.
Email: Use of email marketing platforms such as Emma, MailChimp, or Constant Contact; audience segmentation; content creation; email marketing best practices for deliverability and engagement.
Marketing data analysis: Able to review marketing data to maximize the success of campaigns and efforts.
Visual content creation: Photography and videography for social media and other digital channels; design of graphics using Canva and/or Adobe Creative Suite applications.
Office and internal communications and project support using MS Office Suite or Google suite tools such as Word/Docs, Excel/Sheets, PowerPoint/Slides, etc.
Web publishing: Experience using web publishing platforms such as Drupal, Contenta, WordPress, etc.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills including writing, presentation, interpersonal, and listening skills.
Organized, reliable, thorough, and creative with a positive attitude.
Demonstrable problem‑solving skills, strong analytical skills, proven ability to work with multiple deadlines and multiple priorities, time management and organizational skills, and ability to multitask.
Must have a proven ability to work with a variety of constituents and stakeholders and as part of a team to achieve common goals.
