Job Overview We are now accepting applications for the Adjunct Instructor Applicant Pool. Adjunct pools are open on a fiscal year basis for continuous recruitment for department assignments. The teaching assignment may be at the Valencia or Canyon Country campus, or other college teaching locations. Part‑time faculty positions are as‑needed positions and do not accrue rights to tenure. They offer flexible hours and the opportunity to assist a diverse group of students in achieving their educational goals.
Responsibilities
Assume leadership roles within the department and at the institution; serve students, department, college, and community; collaborate across disciplines; participate in committees and governance.
Participate in curriculum and program development.
Work collegially and collaboratively within the college community.
Participate in ongoing professional development.
Create a dynamic learning environment that values instructor/student interaction.
Effectively engage and facilitate authentic learning for diverse students.
Adapt teaching pedagogy to individual student needs; self‑reflect and respond to evidence‑based assessment.
Integrate new technologies into the learning process, including interactive technologies for on‑campus and online courses.
Communicate effectively orally and in writing.
Qualifications and Minimum Requirements
Unexpired California Community College Instructor Credential in Geography/Geographic Information Systems (GIS).
OR Master’s in geography.
OR Bachelor’s in geography AND Master’s in geology, history, meteorology, or oceanography.
OR Master’s in one of the disciplines included in the interdisciplinary area AND upper‑division or graduate coursework in at least one other constituent discipline (Earth Science and Geography).
OR Equivalency: official transcript of a Master’s degree and 24 semester units at upper‑division/graduate level, with at least 12 graduate semester units.

Two letters of professional reference (or one formal, signed teaching evaluation).

Conditions of Employment Assignments may include Monday through Friday (day and evening) and Saturday classes.
Adjunct salary rate starts at
$88.30
per hour.
