About Aurelian

Aurelian automates non‑emergency calls for 911 centers. We do this through an AI‑powered operator that routes, triages, and resolves calls without the need for human intervention. This allows dispatchers to focus on actual emergencies. Nationwide, the average emergency communications center is 30% understaffed, leading to call‑taker burnout and attrition. Post‑COVID wait times for 911 calls have reached a boiling point; over 60‑80% of calls are not emergencies but administrative calls. Our conversational AI answers these administrative calls, reducing hold times and freeing up human operators.

Base Pay Range

$160,000.00/yr – $200,000.00/yr

What You’ll Be Doing

• Develop and maintain integrations between legacy telephony systems and Aurelian’s cloud platform.
• Optimize the audio processing and metadata pipelines to ensure seamless, reliable data transfer and processing from on‑premise systems to the cloud.
• Collaborate closely with customers and technical teams to understand unique system requirements and deliver robust solutions.
• Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve integration and data flow issues in production environments.
• Contribute to the evolution of company architecture, ensuring scalable, mission‑critical deployments for public safety.

Who We’re Looking For

• 3+ years of professional software engineering experience, ideally with a focus on systems integration or telephony/audio processing.
• Strong experience with telephony protocols, audio codecs, and data pipelines.
• Proficiency in backend development (Python preferred) and experience building integration bridges between legacy and modern systems.
• Familiarity with cloud‑based architectures, real‑time audio processing, and handling complex data flows.
• Excellent troubleshooting, problem‑solving, and communication skills.
• Ability to thrive in fast‑paced and evolving environments.
