Overview
Communication Specialist - Dispatcher
Children's Mercy Kansas City, GE HealthCare Launch Nation's First Pediatric Hospital Operations Center to Improve Patient Care. The Transfer Center is the epicenter of the hospital's Critical Care Transport Team and handles a high volume of calls for admissions, transport requests, and consults. This role supports internal CMH staff and outside referral providers with urgent communications to ensure safe and effective patient placement and transport.
Responsibilities
- Triages and processes all emergent and non-emergent requests from providers for transports, direct admissions, Emergency Department referrals and consults.
- Utilizes quality improvement measures and lean standard work to improve communication of patient care.
- Participates in continuing education and professional development to expand knowledge, enhance role performance, and improve patient placement and throughput.
Qualifications
- HS diploma or equivalent and 1-2 years experience; 1 year of clinical experience preferred, or Associate's Degree preferred.
- One of the following: Licensed Emergency Medical Technician (MO/KS), Licensed Paramedic (KS/MO), Certified Nurse Aide (MO/KS), Licensed Practical Nurse (KS/MO) with multistate licenses as applicable.
- Employees must obtain specific licenses (e.g., Paramedic KS/MO, LPN multistate license) within 90 days of hire as required.
- Certified Flight Communicator (CFC) per IAMTCS preferred upon hire.

Starting Pay
The pay range begins at $21.93/hr; final offer determined based on education and experience.
Remote Work
This position is not eligible to work remotely and requires onsite work at a Children's Mercy location. #LI-Onsite
