About Samsung Food

At Samsung Food, we’re trying to build a more sustainable future by inspiring home cooks everywhere to tackle holistic health through nutrition and reduce food waste. We’re a fully-owned, independently-operated Samsung subsidiary (acquired in 2019) primed to grow on top of Samsung’s global resources and hardware ecosystem. We are passionate about what we build and who we build for within one of the world’s largest corporations to bring our highly-rated native app experiences to tens of millions of TVs, wearables, and kitchen appliances in the years to come.

We’re a remote-first, globally distributed team of 100+ people based across the Americas, Europe, Africa, Asia, and everywhere in between. We’ve been fully distributed since 2016 and pioneered many of the practices which are commonplace in remote workplaces today.

About the Role

We are looking for a Senior User Researcher to join our team shaping the future of health, nutrition, and wellness within Samsung’s global ecosystem. This is a senior role for someone who can bring rigor, creativity, and clarity to a fast-changing environment.

Your work will be strategically aligned with high-priority initiatives across Samsung Health, Samsung Food, and emerging wellness services. You will help us better define our target audiences, understand user needs across diverse contexts, and translate these insights into opportunities that shape product roadmaps and long-term strategies. At the same time, you’ll have the space to think longitudinally and holistically about people, health, and technology — uncovering future opportunities and bringing the organization closer to the real lives of users.

Responsibilities

  • Strategic alignment: Conduct research that directly informs major initiatives and contributes to company-level priorities.
  • Future exploration: Identify and pursue opportunities for longitudinal, generative, and holistic research that broaden our understanding of people and health.
  • Cross-functional impact: Partner closely with Product, Design, Engineering, and Data teams to ensure insights shape both strategy and execution.
  • Mixed-methods excellence: Confidently design studies that combine qualitative and quantitative methods to answer complex questions.
  • User definition: Build a sharper picture of our target audiences, user segments, and evolving behaviors in nutrition, wellness, and health.
  • Influence through storytelling: Deliver compelling narratives that resonate with senior stakeholders and drive evidence-based decision-making.
  • Raise the bar: Mentor peers, advocate for best practices, and strengthen the research culture across the team.
  • Global perspective: Design for a distributed, international user base with sensitivity to cultural and contextual differences.

Requirements

  • 4-8 years of user research experience, ideally within consumer health, wellness, or technology sectors.
  • Expertise in generative, evaluative, and longitudinal research with both qualitative and quantitative methods.
  • Proven ability to design and lead research programs end-to-end, from scoping to synthesis.
  • Skilled at translating research into strategic insight that informs roadmaps and vision.
  • Exceptional storytelling and communication skills, able to engage audiences from executives to engineers.

Nice to Have

  • Comfortable working in complex, global organizations with shifting priorities.
  • Degree in HCI, Psychology, Cognitive Science, Social Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Experience with distributed/global teams.

Location

Fully Remote: Work from anywhere with flexibility, though overlap with GMT time-zones is ideal.

What We Offer

  • Contract-based, full-time role (40 hours/week, depending on workload) with a long-term commitment.
  • Join a supportive and dynamic team. In 2024, Samsung Food was recognized as a Most Loved Workplace® by the Best Practice Institute (BPI) for our outstanding team culture.
