The primary duty of the Development & Marketing Manager (DMM) at Nevins Inc. is to create awareness of the organization as well as cultivate and grow support for it. To do so, the DMM will collaborate closely with the Executive Director to formulate a development and marketing plan, then drive the execution of it including marketing communications, events and outreach for the purpose of relationship cultivation and management of prospective and current grantors, donors and partners. Development focused activities (80%) | Marketing focused activities (20%).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Collaborate with Executive Director and Board of Directors to develop and implement Nevins’ strategic and annual fundraising plan, which includes but is not limited to strategies such as individual donor meetings, events, management of giving programs (memorial/honorary/annual giving/end of year giving), grant writing, speaking engagements, volunteer engagement, etc.

Leverage marketing strategies to create awareness, share stories and align with the values of our prospective and current stakeholders ultimately empowering them to connect, give and ultimately to serve as a Nevins ambassador.

Develop and maintain key partnership relationships including individual and major gift donors, corporate sponsors, partners and in‑kind gift contributors, etc.

Seek to uncover employment groups and individual job placement opportunities within the community for Nevins Inc. participants. Work closely with the Director of Clinical Services to match business opportunities with job candidates served by Nevins Inc.

Enhance and manage Nevins’ donor database, housed in Bloomerang, to create and maintain detailed, accurate donor and prospect records for financial reporting and solicitation report purposes including ability to create and present relevant reports for the Executive Director, Board of Directors and grantors. Also leverage it for marketing and outreach.

Submit report annually to the NC Secretary of State to renew Nevins Inc.’s charitable solicitation license.

Develop, recruit and steward volunteers to support the operational work of Nevins Inc. and identify ways to lead them to donate.

Create and disseminate all marketing messaging, which includes but is not limited to Nevins Inc.’s website, social media content, internal/external newsletters and email marketing, branded products, and all other necessary marketing materials (flyers/handouts/brochures/videos/etc.).

Manage media inquiries in collaboration with the Executive Director.

Qualifications: To qualify, please be ready to share your experiences in the following areas:

Bachelor's degree in related field required.

Nonprofit experience.

3‑5 years of nonprofit development experience (or other relationship management, direct sales, marketing, capital campaigns, special event planning, donor relations, grant writing or fund development experience).

Additional Requirements:

Demonstrated excellence in organization and time management.

Exceptional communication skills – presentation, oral and written (a marketing portfolio and writing samples including a presentation is a plus).

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily with or without accommodation.

Provide your own personal transportation for frequent local travel to meet with donors and attend community events.

Schedule flexibility to attend occasional early morning, evening and weekend community‑based events.

Optional, but Nice to Have:

Experience working in the human services industry.

Experience in an organization serving individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Physical Requirements Must be able to operate a variety of automated office machines and other equipment, (e.g., computers and copier). Must be able to exert up to fifty pounds of force occasionally and/or frequently to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Physical demands are more than sedentary work; position requires driving, walking, standing, reaching, stooping, kneeling, etc.
