Senior Director, User Experience - AEC Content Strategy
Autodesk
Job Requisition ID # 25WD90939
We are hiring a Senior Director of User Experience—AEC Content Strategy to lead content strategy across Autodesk’s Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) product portfolio. This executive-level role reports to the VP of Experience & Analytics and serves as a senior member of the AEC Experience & Analytics Leadership team. You will collaborate closely with senior leaders across design, engineering, product, and business to evolve our content strategy in alignment with our agentic product vision.
The role is remote-friendly within North America. Preferred office locations include San Francisco, CA; Portland, OR; Boston, MA; and Toronto, ON. Travel will amount to approximately 10%.
Responsibilities
Vision & Strategy
Define a multi‑year content strategy and conversational UX vision for the AEC portfolio, rooted in customer outcomes.
Shape how content becomes the backbone of agentic experiences, ensuring AI systems can reason over structured content, act on behalf of users, and deliver trustworthy outcomes.
Create the north‑star vision for AI‑assisted and agentic experiences (chat, copilots, proactive workflows, voice) and the content foundation that powers them.
Conversational Design & LLM Integration
Establish standards for critical user journeys (CUJs), tone/voice, conversational/LLM design and agentic experiences.
Partner with AI/ML teams across Autodesk to integrate LLMs and emerging agentic frameworks into AEC workflows.
Define evaluation systems to ensure agents can generate reliable, actionable responses grounded in authoritative content.
Content Infrastructure & Governance
Build a scalable content model (taxonomy/ontology, metadata, structured content) to fuel both human‑facing UX and machine‑readable knowledge for agents.
Create governance practices that ensure agentic systems always act within defined boundaries of accuracy, compliance, and trust.
Personalization & Journeys
Define how content enables agents to personalize workflows by role, discipline, and project phase—anticipating user needs, not just responding.
Ensure agentic experiences are context‑aware and continuous across surfaces.
Leadership & Execution
Build and lead a high‑performing team (content strategists, conversation designers, content ops, UX writers).
Partner across Product, AI/ML, Engineering, and Design Systems to turn content into a strategic enabler of autonomy and reasoning.
Required Qualifications
15+ years of content strategy/content design/UX writing, with 5+ years leading teams or running multi‑product portfolios, including experience coaching and mentoring talent
Proven track record building AI‑assisted or agentic experiences at scale
Deep experience designing content models and infrastructures that support reasoning, tool use, and personalization
Strong portfolio of cross‑product consistency systems (voice & tone, terminology, style, accessibility)
Fluency in AI/ML collaboration; comfortable driving experiments in emergent areas like AI agents
Prior experience driving large‑scale design unification efforts across multiple verticals, major feature areas, or products
Prior experience leading designers in highly collaborative Scrum/Agile environments
Ability to set priorities and evangelize a shared plan with a wide range of audiences at all levels of the organization, including senior executives
Up‑to‑date expertise in human‑centered design best practices, user research, design systems, AI and content strategy
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to distill complex ideas to their essence
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in interaction design or a related field
Experience designing multi‑platform experiences
Experience with agile software design methods
Passion for product design, AI, content strategy, and empowering designers, makers, and builders
