To learn how to apply for a faculty or staff position using the Career worklet, please review this .The UHealth-University of Miami Health System Calder Library has an opportunity for a full-time Sr. Library Assistant to work in Miami, Florida.The Senior Library Assistant performs a variety of paraprofessional and routine administrative functions in support of the assigned library’s operations. Additionally, the Senior Library Assistant provides guidance, mentorship, and supervision to junior staff and tackles the more complex and difficult work. Furthermore, the incumbent in this position maintains high customer service standards at all times.This regular full-time position works a standard evening schedule of: **Monday - Friday 11:30 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.; weekends may be required once pre-pandemic schedule is resumed.**All staff maybe required to change their shifts as needed by the department.Core Responsibilities: * Performs a variety of routine circulation and customer service duties such as registering patrons, issuing library cards, and checking out books.* Maintains media materials by cleaning, repairing, and reordering.* Monitors and checks library computer equipment.* Receives and resolves customer problems and complaints.* Compiles and maintains accurate records and statistics for reporting purposes.* Verifies bibliographic information for library materials and adds items to catalog database.* Prepares informational materials such as book displays, exhibits, bulletin boards, and flyers.* Plans and participates in various University outreach activities.* Provides limited reference and reader's advisory assistance.* Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.Department Specific Functions:* Greet and check Library patrons for valid ID Cards.* Answer the phone and direct calls accordingly* Clearance of UM and JMH staff and students upon their graduation or leaving the university.* Assist patrons with computer usernames and passwords, copy/printer/scanning instructions.* Provide reference support such as checking titles in online catalog and minimal website assistance.
