Job Overview

We are looking for a Junior Multimedia Reporter (JMMR) for BTPM NPR. The role blends traditional reporting with digital media to produce compelling news stories across our website, social platforms, and broadcast segments. The position can be hybrid, combining remote and in‑office work.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Serve as a general‑assignment news reporter focused on assigned reporting pillars.
• Create longer‑form NPR‑style enterprise reports; coordinate approval and development with the Managing and Assistant Managing Editors.
• Research, source, and interview individuals and subject matter experts.
• Capture, organize, and edit audio, images, and video for stories; credit appropriately.
• Write articles for various formats including on‑air copy, web copy, and social media.
• Post approved content on BTPM.org, social media, and mobile apps.
• Serve as a weekend on‑air host for BTPM NPR.

What You’ll Need

• Associate degree in journalism, English, broadcasting, or related field (or comparable education/credits).
• Minimum six (6) months in a reporter position, preferably in public media (internship experience acceptable).
• Strong attention to detail, grammar, and proofreading skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Creative thinker with emerging time‑management and problem‑solving skills.
• Demonstrated ability to develop and report diverse stories with outstanding writing and editing.

Salary & Benefits

Hourly, non‑exempt part‑time position. Pay range: $17.57 – $21.96 per hour, based on education and experience. Hours are operationally based; evening and weekend availability may be required.
