About the Role The Assistant Designer will work closely with the Head Design Manager to execute the design and development of textile products within the Flooring and/or Pillows categories for the West Elm brand. Reporting into the Head Design Manager, this role will be responsible for helping to ensure all product development deadlines and key calendar dates are met.

Responsibilities

Manage all technical specifications including the tech packs and CADs

Support the development process through daily communication with the cross functional partners and vendors including making comments on samples, and sending product approvals in PLM

Maintain and organize development samples both physically and digitally

Create and maintain visual line list decks and presentation decks

Work proactively according to development calendar to stay ahead of timelines

Create and maintain digital Pipeline

Assist into researching new ideas, fabrications, and materials

Present ideas and design concepts to Head Design Manager and category designers

Consistently research industry trends to feed design inspiration and new collection development

Criteria

MUST provide Portfolio link (including password) on resume - or link to PDF work samples with application

Degree in Textile Design or related field

Adobe Creative Suite and MS office suite are essential.

Minimum 1 years of design work experience, preferably in-home furnishings or textiles

Must be skilled at CAD. And able to manipulate artwork, mockups and generate colorways

Passionate about design, art, color & textiles with a strong sense of color

Ability to work independently as well as with a team in a fast-paced environment

Extremely organized, efficient and detail-oriented

A self-starter who is enthusiastic, adaptable, and brings a strong can-do spirit

Excellent time management and communication skills

Understanding and enthusiasm for the West Elm brand

This role requires being onsite in the Dumbo Brooklyn office

The expected starting pay range for this position is$60,000 - $65,000. Applicable pay ranges may differ across markets. Actual pay will be determined based on experience and other job-related factors permitted by law. In addition to competitive pay, compensation may include a variety of other components like benefits, paid time off, merit, and bonus opportunities.
