Overview
The Marketing Automation Manager is responsible for guiding agency email marketing and marketing automation best-practices, as well as driving strategies and executing campaigns that deliver measurable results for clients. This role involves managing marketing automation initiatives, including audience segmentation, email copy creation, automation workflows, A/B testing, and performance analysis. Focus is on our core vertical of Senior Living, but will work across other verticals such as home services, ecommerce, and more.
The ideal candidate brings agency experience, and combines expertise in CRMs and email automation strategy with hands-on proficiency in-platform. They are equal parts strategist and builder: someone who can understand client goals and translate them into programs that drive results. This person thrives in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment, is passionate about digital marketing, and demonstrates a data-driven approach to crafting engaging email and text messaging strategies.
Responsibilities
Strategy & Leadership Help define and evolve the agency’s marketing automation best practices and strategy across clients and verticals. Enhance our marketing automation playbook for the Senior Living vertical, and beyond. Serve as our subject matter expert on marketing automation, lead nurturing, and CRM-integrated campaigns. Mentor and develop internal team members to build operational excellence and technical depth. Lead the development of comprehensive email marketing strategies tailored to client objectives and target audiences. Campaign Strategy & Execution Design, build, and deploy email campaigns, including newsletters, product launches, promotional emails, and drip sequences. Lead A/B and multivariate testing strategies for messaging, creative, layouts, cadence, and journey mapping to improve key performance metrics like open rates, click-through rates, and conversions. Utilize audience segmentation techniques to craft personalized messages that resonate with specific audience groups. Ensure flawless execution of campaigns from creative QA through delivery. Data, Analytics, & Optimization Own performance reporting for email and automation programs, connecting campaign-level platform metrics to business outcomes from the CRM. Regularly analyze campaign performance metrics, develop actionable insights, and share recommendations with the team and clients. Collaborate with the analytics team to build, maintain, and improve our internal and external dashboard reporting. Platform Management & Integration Serve as an owner and administrator of key marketing automation platforms (ActiveDemand, Hubspot, Klaviyo, and others). Build and manage automation workflows in our key platforms. Partner with development and analytics teams to ensure CRM, website, and pixel integrations are clean, well-structured, and actionable. Compliance & Best Practices Ensure email campaigns adhere to best practices and legal requirements, such as GDPR and CAN-SPAM regulations. Implement and improve deliverability best practices. Champion accessibility and responsive design standards in all email templates. Qualifications 7-10 years of experience in email marketing, preferably in an agency or client-facing role. Senior Living vertical experience highly preferred Agency experience highly preferred Ability to quickly learn the intricacies of new industries, and leverage those learnings in comprehensive strategies Bachelor’s degree Demonstrated ability to translate marketing goals into data-driven automation strategies Proficiency in email marketing platforms (e.g., ActiveDemand, HubSpot, Klaviyo). Strong knowledge of email best practices, audience segmentation, and deliverability optimization. Experience with data analysis tools like Google Analytics, Looker Studio, or similar platforms. Strong understanding of CRM platforms and their interplay with marketing automation tools Proficiency in Google Workspace tools (Gmail, Docs, Slides, Sheets) Exceptional written and verbal communication skills. Highly organized, self-motivated, and able to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines. Solid understanding of HTML, email templating, and responsive design principles.
