Postdoctoral Associate in African American Literature 2025-2026 The Department of English at Rutgers University, which has a long history of scholarship and teaching in African American Literature and Literature of the African Diaspora, invites applications for the Cheryl A. Wall Postdoctoral Fellowship in African American and African Diaspora Literary Studies. Scholars pursuing research in African American and/or African Diasporic literature are encouraged, especially those engaged in black feminist criticism and theory, African American poetics, black ecologies, performance studies, sound studies, black queer studies, or the black radical tradition. This is a one‑year appointment for the 2025-2026 academic year. The appointment includes an annual salary of 60,000 dollars, health benefits, and a 5,000 dollar research stipend. The recipient will teach one course in the Spring semester, serve as an informal mentor to graduate students, and participate in the intellectual life of the department. Applicants must have earned a doctorate by July 1, 2025 and be no more than six years beyond the Ph.D. Applications must be submitted by April 21, 2025.
