Senior Radio Frequency Engineer – Overland Park, KS Black & Veatch is searching for a Senior Radio Frequency (RF) Engineer at their headquarters in Overland Park, KS. The Senior RF Engineer joins a dynamic wireless communications team, where you will play a pivotal role in designing, optimizing, planning, deploying, and troubleshooting Land Mobile Radio (LMR), private LTE (pLTE), Microwave, and Narrowband networks for the electric, gas, and water utility space. You will independently develop and apply advanced RF knowledge to unique RF problems such as interference, leading engineering staff on projects of medium to high complexity. You will serve as a subject‑matter expert (SME) providing RF guidance and expertise, collaborating with cross‑functional teams and leading industry vendors to enhance wireless communication systems in the utility space. This role involves occasional travel to client sites for inspection, testing, and meetings. Key Responsibilities Oversee the end‑to‑end RF engineering lifecycle for Black & Veatch utilities and other clients, from initial site surveys and system modeling to deployment, testing, and optimization. Serve as the go‑to SME for LMR and Microwave technologies, providing technical guidance on propagation modeling, interference mitigation, and spectrum management. Offer technical advisory and consulting services to clients, including supporting business development and pursuit activities such as proposal creation, scope definition, level‑of‑effort estimation, and implementation planning. Lead and participate in project execution and technical delivery. Required Skills and Competencies Minimum 11 years of wireless communications experience; utility experience preferred. Advanced knowledge of RF design and engineering principles, guides, and standards. Proficiency with various wireless technologies (LMR, Microwave, LTE). Experience configuring and testing wireless systems and radio vendors. Strong technical proposal development skills. Critical thinking, complex problem‑solving, and advanced oral/ written communication. Consulting mindset, quality assurance, and professional presentation skills. Education Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited program, and a minimum of 11 years related work experience. Employment Details Full‑time, onsite; 5 days a week.
