Position Summary Information

The Core Department in the School of Humanities, Arts and Sciences at St. Catherine University invites applications for a full time (12 month), teaching-emphasis position. The successful candidate will also serve as the coordinator of the Writing and Reading Center. Rank and salary commensurate with experience. Successful applicants should have a PhD and demonstrate evidence of a commitment to excellence in teaching. Teaching Emphasis faculty are eligible for promotion through the level of full professor.

Responsibilities

The selected candidate is expected to have responsibilities in teaching and service. The successful candidate will teach five courses (20 credits; 1-2-2 per academic year) and additionally receive 4.33 course releases to coordinate the Writing and Reading Center.

Applicants from all writing-related fields are welcome and should expect to teach the writing-intensive courses The Reflective Women and Global Search for Justice. The selected candidate will be evaluated for promotion on the basis of their teaching, scholarly activities, service, and administrative work in the Writing and Reading Center.

As the Coordinator of the Writing and Reading Center, this role develops and delivers training and mentoring for undergraduate and graduate peer tutors, promotes writing and reading through faculty collaboration, class visits, and events, and develops synchronous and asynchronous resources on writing and reading strategies.

Applicants should demonstrate excellence in teaching and a commitment to university service. The selected candidate will be responsible for mentoring peer tutors and is expected to engage in service activities with colleagues, the department, school, campus, community and professional organizations.

EEO Statement

Compensation: Salary range of $66,000 – $69,000 depending on qualifications and experience.

The salary range listed reflects a good-faith estimate of what we reasonably anticipate to pay for this position, based on market data and internal equity, at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be determined based on qualifications, experience, skills, and other relevant factors. St. Catherine reserves the right to modify or adjust compensation depending on University needs.
