Job Summary In this role you will plan, develop, and review Plant Design & Piping (PD&P) work, produce drawings and documentation, and prepare design estimates for a project. You will coordinate with clients, facilitate technical discussions, and review and approve drawings, calculations, and bid summaries. You will solve complex technical issues and ensure PD&P designs comply with all regulations and standards.

Major Responsibilities

Plan, develop, coordinate, and review PD&P design work within a medium‑size design group on projects of similar size or assignment support.

Produce drawings and documentation in accordance with design standards, including 3D model equipment layouts and pipe designs.

Coordinate and interface with day‑to‑day technical work of PD&P engineers, scientists, specialists, designers, and drafters.

Communicate complex technical issues and recommend solutions to upper management.

Facilitate technical discussions with third parties (client, suppliers, regulators).

Prepare or oversee PD&P design estimates and work plans in accordance with project scope, schedule, and budget, managing implementation and performance.

Develop engineering department procedures (EDPs), Bechtel design guides, and standard computer applications (BSAPs) and administrative practices.

Coordinate with client representatives to obtain approval of work phases.

Review and approve key PD&P engineering drawings, calculations, and bid summaries.

Coordinate assigned PD&P design work with other project groups.

Mentor PD&P designers and drafters by providing appropriate on‑the‑job training for their professional development.

Ensure PD&P systems designs comply with all applicable installation codes, regulations, and standards.

Education And Experience Requirements

Bachelor’s degree (or international equivalent) and 10–13 years of relevant experience, or 14–17 years of relevant work experience.

Required Knowledge And Skills

Sound knowledge of CAD design and drafting techniques, engineering drawings, graphic arts, and reproduction methods used in plant design and piping.

Advanced experience with 3D modeling tools; AutoCAD, Revit, and Navisworks.

Experience developing, managing, and maintaining BIM models with defined LOD specifications (LOD 100–500) for plant design and piping disciplines.

Experience with 3D‑modeling of complex piping systems, pipe supports, and mechanical equipment for large industrial facilities such as semiconductor fabs or data centers.

Previous modularization, OSM, and modular piping design project execution experience.

Experience in multi‑discipline interface management and global 3D model oversight.

Expertise in reading, interpreting, and using drawings and documents prepared by other project groups.

Excellent listening, oral and written communication, planning, and organizational skills.

Must be authorized to live and work in the U.S. without sponsorship.

Willingness to travel and/or relocate to jobsite in support of projects.
