We are currently seeking a Structural Project Designer for our Cincinnati, OH office. In this role you will lead design efforts as a project manager or lead designer for low‑to‑moderate complexity projects and collaborate with senior staff on larger projects. You will work closely with a team of engineers and consultants to provide engineering solutions and advice to clients, ensuring positive outcomes while staying within budget and schedule. Principal Responsibilities
Lead analysis and design of structural systems using a variety of building materials; utilize engineering software and tools to create detailed designs, specifications, and calculations according to code requirements and IMEG standards. Interact with clients to understand their needs, gather project requirements, and communicate technical information effectively; build and maintain client relationships through professional communication. Work as part of a project team to support execution of consulting projects; lead efforts in project planning, budgeting, and scheduling to meet deadlines and objectives; document design decisions and monitor project progress. Analyze engineering problems and propose innovative solutions; collaborate with senior engineers and consultants to develop practical and efficient solutions. Provide in‑process design reviews of structural system design, calculations, and specifications; implement IMEG quality control processes to ensure that engineering designs meet IMEG quality standards, industry standards, and client requirements. Stay up to date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in structural engineering; contribute to research, development, and innovation within IMEG. Prioritize safety in all aspects of engineering work. Conduct oneself in an ethical and professional manner. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including other engineers, architects, and project managers, to deliver integrated solutions. Identify potential project problems and seek advice from the project manager. Oversee projects through bidding, design, and construction administration phases. Proficiency in design techniques, tools, and concepts involved in producing technical plans and specifications. Strong technical and analytical skills, including proficiency in mechanics and materials, load paths, design techniques, and design standards for steel, concrete, wood, masonry, and other structural systems. Ability to train and mentor less experienced staff. Proficiency with industry‑standard engineering software and tools for structural design and analysis. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to clearly communicate both orally and in writing. Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. Attention to detail and strong problem‑solving skills. Proficiency in the use of BIM software. Proficient with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook). Ability to travel up to 10% with occasional overnight stays. Education and Experience
Bachelor of Science (BS) in Civil, Structural, or Architectural Engineering, or equivalent, required. Master’s Degree (MS) in Structural Engineering preferred. Engineering Intern (EIT) Certification preferred. 3 years of experience minimum required (4 years preferred) in building‑design consulting. Alternative Qualifications
Associate’s degree or certificate in Building Information Modeling (BIM) or Engineering preferred. 7 years of experience minimum required (8 years preferred) in building‑design consulting or construction industry. Physical Requirements
Regularly required to sit, walk, stand, talk, see, hear, and lift objects up to 25 pounds. Occasionally required to drive, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl, reach with hands or arms, and grasp or pull. Limited exposure to outside weather conditions and loud noises. Compensation & Benefits
Salary Range: $83,000 – $112,000 (may vary by location). Employee compensation is based on experience, knowledge, and skills. Additional rewards include annual bonuses and stock ownership options.
