In this role, you will play a pivotal part in shaping the in‑store shopping experience by overseeing visual presentation, driving sales through merchandising strategies, and coaching a team of Visual Specialists and Sales Associates.
Overview
Reporting to the Visual Merchandising Manager, you will blend creativity and analytical insights, leveraging business data to craft compelling displays, execute merchandising initiatives, and optimize customer engagement. Your leadership will inspire the team to deliver seamless operations, innovative visual storytelling, and exceptional customer experiences.
Responsibilities
- Support the Visual Merchandising Manager in training associates on Wayfair’s visual standards, floorset execution, and adapting displays to inventory and sales trends.
- Lead the execution of visual merchandising tasks, including floorsets, daily maintenance, flips, replenishment, signage placement, and value‑added services.
- Coach and develop Visual Specialists, Sales, and Operations teams, providing feedback, accountability conversations, and guidance aligned with Wayfair People Principles.
- Analyze sales data and inventory trends to drive visual merchandising decisions that contribute to store profitability.
- Monitor inventory levels, facilitate replenishment on the sales floor, and maintain visual integrity.
- Build a high‑performing team through coaching and serve as a keyholder to open or close the store as needed.
- Represent Wayfair’s customer‑first commitment by providing product knowledge to assist customers and working with Retail Engagement teams.
- Collaborate with other departments to deliver a seamless shopping experience that reflects Wayfair brand values.
- Embrace innovation, sharing ideas to improve operations, brand recognition, and product presentation within store guardrails.
- Use technology effectively, including mobile apps, portable devices, Google Workspace, and Microsoft Office.
Qualifications
- 1+ years of leadership experience managing a large team.
- 2+ years in visual merchandising with strong business results in a retail or home furnishings environment.
- 3+ years of retail experience, preferably in home, furnishing, or interior design spaces.
- Hands‑on skill in basic electrical wiring, lighting installation, wallpapering, and furniture assembly.
- Willingness to work nights, weekends, and holidays as required.
- Excellent planning, communication, and multitasking skills.
- Data‑driven decision making using sales trends and inventory insights.
- Strong relationship management and cross‑functional collaboration skills.
Physical and Environmental Requirements
- Frequent standing, walking, reaching, bending, and occasional climbing or balancing.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs independently; heavier items may require assistance or equipment.
- Vision: close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
- Comfortable in varying temperature conditions.
- Exposure to moderate noise levels and physical activity.
