Newly created position to strengthen financial reporting and free leadership for higher-level oversight Key player in producing accurate, timely financial reports including ACFR, PAFR, and quarterly reporting Leads audit process preparation, ensuring compliance with GAAP, GASB, and NC municipal standards Provides supervisory oversight of accounting functions such as capital assets, reconciliations, and utility billing Supports organizational transparency and effective decision-making through reporting and analysis THE BACKGROUND THAT FITS
Strong knowledge of governmental accounting standards (GASB) and experience preparing government financial statements Background in public finance, municipal, county, or CPA firm with government audit experience Supervisory experience preferred, but strong technical accountants with leadership potential will also be considered Intermediate Excel skills (VLOOKUP, pivot tables) required; advanced functions like macros not necessary Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present financial information clearly to auditors, stakeholders, and governing boards
