The Experience Web Development and Delivery team (EXDD) supports campus gateway and enterprise websites, and builds web applications that deliver content as data across the universitys digital properties. EXDD is seeking a web developer intern to assist with the migration of data from legacy applications into enterprise web solutions, providing practical experience in modern web development practices while contributing to high-impact university projects.
Job Summary Collaborates with EXDD team members on migrating data from legacy applications into enterprise web solutions. Supports the development and maintenance of APIs and web applications within the LAMP stack, primarily using Laravel. Participates in code reviews, testing, and documentation to ensure high-quality, maintainable solutions. Gains hands-on experience with modern web development workflows, including containerized deployments and version control. Qualifications
EDUCATION
Required
Current enrolled as a student at Indiana University with an interest in web development. Preferred
Currently enrolled in Information Technology, Informatics, or other computing/engineering field major or minor WORK EXPERIENCE
Required
Foundational knowledge of web development (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and PHP) gained through coursework, projects, or prior experience. Basic understanding of relational databases (MySQL or similar). Preferred
Experience with Laravel or another PHP framework. Experience using Git for version control. Familiarity with containerized development and deployment (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes). SKILLS

Ability to manage time effectively and work independently in a remote environment. Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and practices. Problem-solving and troubleshooting in a collaborative setting. Attention to detail in coding, testing, and documentation. Strong written and verbal communication and listening skills Maintains a high degree of professionalism Working Conditions / Demands
This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.
Work Location
All IU campuses.
This is a fully remote position. However, this is subject to change in the future based on university policy and business needs.
Work Hours
The internship is based on 150 hours of work that can be configured as the supervisor and student desire.
