Job Description:
The Senior Editor and Brand Copy Manager plays a crucial role in the marketing team with a focus on management and alignment of Magpul's brand voice across all written content. As part of the creative team, this role is responsible for overseeing the creation of compelling written content across all brand materials and platforms, and the role will ensure that the brand's messaging is aligned with ongoing brand needs and business objectives. The scope of work will include a variety of special projects that reflect Magpul's roots in firearms and shooting sports, with a mix of action sports, humor, and general pop culture sensibility. In addition, the role will participate in in-person and virtual industry events and media relationships as a brand ambassador to reinforce the effects of our written and other content. The role will also represent the brand in different strategic venues.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Lead the written content creation process from concept to completion. This includes touching everything from content on the websites, emails, sales materials, print and digital ads, video scripting, and other marketing and sales materials. Present copy ideas and concepts to team members, provide constructive feedback on their work, and edit draft copy to ensure clarity of voice, consistency of style, and overall quality to ensure all copy is aligned with brand guidelines and marketing goals. Collaborate with product developers, company stakeholders, and other Marketing/Sales team members to produce high-quality written content in all its forms. Ensure content is accurate, well-written, and free of errors conducting final reviews of content for spelling grammar, and accuracy. Manage multiple projects, set deadlines, and oversee production processes from conception to publication. Conduct research on industry trends to inform written content strategies and to hone Magpul's voice to support product and company communications. Take part in or lead special projects that support the Marketing team's creative efforts. Optimize content for SEO and digital platforms. Participate in in-person and virtual industry events and media relationships as a brand ambassador. Ability to travel up to 10% both day trips and overnight travel. Other duties as assigned. Minimum Education/Experience Requirements:
Bachelor's degree or master's degree in English, Marketing, or Communications. 7+ years of experience in marketing, content creation, and copywriting. 5+ years of copywriting/editing leadership, and management experience of people, processes, and resources. 5+ years of experience in the firearms and/or shooting sports space. Experience participating in in-person and virtual industry events and media relationships as a brand ambassador is a must. Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Exceptional interpersonal communication skills in both written and verbal form, to include advanced writing, editing, and proofreading skills. Managerial and organizational skills, to include working well under deadlines, attention to detail, speed, and accuracy. Creative thinking and ability to develop engaging campaign concepts. Ability to work collaboratively with multiple internal and external stakeholders, to include media and other important content-related relationships. Familiarity with SEO and content marketing. Strong coaching and mentoring skills. Ability to set performance expectations, provide feedback, and drive professional growth. Capable of steering projects to successful completion, minimizing disruptions. Ability to work independently, prioritize multiple projects, and manage deadlines. Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, etc.) with ability to learn new programs. Additional:
Organizational: This position reports to the Director of Marketing. Pay Rate: Competitive pay rate commensurate to experience.
