Summary:
The Authorization Specialist is a non-exempt, full-time journey-level position responsible for obtaining authorizations for various services/needs such as, but not limited to, MRI, CT, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Surgery, etc. while ensuring that all paperwork is completed timely, accurately, and orderly for each patient.
Position Duties:
Determines need for and obtains authorization for needed service(s) Collects and reviews all patient insurance benefit information and compiles verification forms in orderly manner Notifies patients and providers of any services requested and/or referred that are not authorized by insurance in addition to next steps or available options Informs patient of referral status in relationship to services and corresponding visits Maintains excellent communication with patients, providers, and other office staff Documents every step of the process on each patient to ensure an organized progress trail is visible to everyone in need Work in tandem with Clinical Staff to provide unified and consistent patient care Implement, maintain and report on programs initiated by the practice Other duties as assigned Benefits:

Education, Licens
es and Qualifications:
Required:
High School Diploma or equivalent Detail oriented and organized Familiarity with insurance and third-party payers Familiarity with CPT and ICD-10 coding Proficiency with electronic medical record (EMR) systems Ability to use Microsoft Office programs Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment Ability to multi-task and meet tight deadlines Excellent problem-solving skills Preferred:
One (1) year authorization experience, medical setting preferred
