The Role

This position is fully remote/work from home. Join Lumen's Enterprise UX Design & Research Team as a User Experience Research Intern. You'll work alongside experienced researchers to learn how we plan, conduct, and analyze user research that helps shape intuitive and impactful digital experiences. This internship is a great opportunity to explore the field of UX research, build foundational skills, and contribute to real projects that improve how users interact with our products.

The Main Responsibilities
  • Support research activities across Lumen's Product & Marketing teams
  • Collaborate with UX Designers, Product Managers, and Developers to understand how research informs design decisions
  • Assist in conducting user researchincluding surveys, interviews, and usability testing
  • Help analyze and summarize findings from research sessions
  • Participate in team discussions to share insights and brainstorm design improvements
  • Explore both qualitative and quantitative methods to understand user behavior and needs
What We Look For in a Candidate

Program eligibility is contingent on the candidate's commitment of the entire 10-week program. No exceptions will be made.

Required Qualification
  • Enrolled at a 4-year accredited college or university, rising senior level education status at the start of the internship.
  • Graduating August 2026 May 2028.
  • Preferred fields include but not limited to: Human-Computer Interaction, Psychology, Design, or a related field.
  • Intern must be able to work 40 hours per week during the 10-week program (June 1 August 6, 2065).
Proficiency and Understanding of:
  • Curious about how people interact with technology.
  • Interested in learning how research improves user experiences.
  • Comfortable asking questions and eager to grow your skills.
  • A good communicator and team player.
  • Familiar with basic UX concepts (through coursework, bootcamps, or self-study).
  • Some exposure to UX research methods (e.g., through class projects or personal exploration).
  • Experience with tools like Figma, Miro, or survey platforms is a plusbut not required.
Work Setting

Intern must be able to work 30-40 hours per week during the 10-week program (June August). Intern must have reliable transportation to/from work location (Lumen does not provide transportation to/from Lumen office locations). US Citizenship required.

Compensation

Internship compensation ranges depend on each individual's level of education, geographic location, and experience/qualifications aligned to the role. Hourly Based Pay Range: Min: $30/hour Max: $46/hour.
