Overview

We are seeking a talented and motivated Machine Learning Engineer to join Openings Studio. You will work to discover new and interesting ways to make users lives faster and easier by leveraging traditional machine learning techniques as well as Large Language Modeling (LLM) and Generative AI solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Reporting to the Commercial Development Manager, collaborate with Openings Studio software engineers, Product Owner, and divisions to identify opportunities for growth in future-forward areas (e.g., machine learning, artificial intelligence).
  • Build and evaluate innovative first-of-a-kind solutions for real-world use cases, from research prototypes to client-ready solutions.
  • Develop and maintain a deep technical understanding of state-of-the-art frontend development, including new technologies, open source, and commercial offerings.
  • Train, evaluate, monitor, and continuously improve deployed machine learning models.
  • Maintain vector databases for RAG and agentic workflows and build data pipelines.
  • Choose hosting platforms and services, hardware specs, etc., to run and scale API services as required by the business.
  • Liaise with business and development teams and incorporate feedback to inform future improvements.

Qualifications
  • Education: College/University degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or related field.
  • Experience: 23 years in machine learning, with at least 1 year of hands-on experience productionizing and scaling ML APIs in real-world environments.
  • Skills: Proficiency in Python, C++, Java, and SQL; experience with API platforms (Postman, Azure API Management, or Boomi); BI frameworks and MS Excel; Microsoft Office tools.
  • ML Libraries: Scikit-Learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch, XGBoost or equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Openings Studio in practical or field applications; or functional experience in construction or manufacturing industries.
  • Knowledge of frontend languages (JavaScript/HTML/CSS).
  • Experience with Docker or Kubernetes.
  • Familiarity with agentic workflows, MCP Servers, or related tooling; experience with frontend/backend integration to optimize APIs for UI/UX.

Special Considerations
  • Based in Phoenix, Arizona; onsite Monday through Friday.
  • Travel up to 10% as required by the business.
