Job Summary As a team member within the SC APEX Accelerator, the Marketing and Communications Manager will help implement the grant objectives by providing technical assistance to clients interested in becoming contractors with the federal government focused on storytelling, marketing, and product innovation. The position partners with Procurement Counselors and the Admin Manager to assist with client management and support, and collaborates with the APEX Program Manager to coordinate marketing and communications for the program. The role is grant‑funded and subject to yearly renewal and will contribute to the economic growth of South Carolina companies.

Minimum Requirements • Bachelor’s degree in a related field and at least 3 years of job‑related experience (or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience).

Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge of journalistic principles and practices and techniques of disseminating information to the public through news media.

Knowledge of the methods and techniques used in planning, composing, editing, and producing publications.

Knowledge of principles and methods of planning, conducting, and supervising large‑scale public relations programs.

Knowledge of business management practices and procedures.

Knowledge of agency programs, policies, and procedures.

Ability to gather, organize and present oral and written information in a clear, concise, and accurate manner.

Strong writing skills for creating compelling content and editing materials for clarity and impact.

Ability to develop long‑term marketing plans that align with business goals.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the news media, team members, and the general public.

Excellent organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.

Job Duties and Time Allocation

Provide expertise and recommendations on marketing program services to federal, state, local government and large/small companies to grow client base and increase program visibility (40%).

Provide counseling services specific to marketing and communications in support of federal, state, local government requirements, including creating and reviewing capabilities statements, website & email requirements, DSBS, etc. (10%).

Plan, host, and facilitate in‑person and virtual training events and meetings to showcase service offerings focused on program goals (30%).

Design marketing materials, update newsletter content, and maintain website and social media accounts; assist in completing program‑related reports (5%).

Continuous self‑driven education for best practices and sharing with team members; travel to conferences and workshops as appropriate (5%).

All other duties assigned as needed.

Employment Type / Time Commitment Full‑time, 37.5 hours per week (Standard work schedule Monday through Friday 8:30am‑5:00pm with one hour lunch; flexible schedule may be required).
