Job Summary As a team member within the SC APEX Accelerator, the Marketing and Communications Manager will help to implement the grant objectives by providing technical assistance to clients interested in becoming contractors with the federal government focused on storytelling, marketing, and product innovation. Based in Columbia, this position will partner with Procurement Counselors and the Admin Manager in assisting with client management and support. Additionally, this position will work with the APEX Program Manager to coordinate marketing and communications on behalf of the program. This is a grant funded position subject to ongoing yearly grant renewal. The Marketing and Communications Manager will be part of a small but important office essential to the economic growth of South Carolina companies. This position requires a marketing and communications background and experience working with small and large businesses.

Responsibilities

Provides expertise and recommendations on marketing program services to federal/state/local government and large/small companies to grow client base and increase visibility of the program to develop partnership opportunities to include statewide outreach through internal/external stakeholder meetings. (40% of time)

Provides counseling services specific to marketing and communications in support of federal/state/local government requirements to include creating and reviewing Capabilities Statements, website & email requirements, DSBS, etc. (10% of time)

Plans, hosts, and facilitates in-person and virtual training events and meetings to showcase service offerings focused on program goals. (30% of time)

Designs marketing materials, updates newsletter content, and maintains website and social media accounts and assists in completing program-related reports. (5% of time)

Continuous, self-driven education for best practices and sharing with team members. Includes travel to in/out of state conferences and workshops where appropriate. (5% of time)

All other duties assigned.

Qualifications Requires a bachelor’s degree in a job related field and 3 or more years of job related experience.

Preferred Skills

Knowledge of journalistic principles and practices and techniques of disseminating information to the public through news media.

Knowledge of the methods and techniques used in planning, composing, editing, and producing publications.

Knowledge of principles and methods of planning, conducting, and supervising large-scale public relations programs.

Knowledge of business management practices and procedures.

Knowledge of agency programs, policies, and procedures.

Ability to gather, organize and present oral and written information in a clear, concise, and accurate manner.

Strong writing skills for creating compelling content and editing materials for clarity and impact.

Ability to develop long-term marketing plans that align with business goals.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the news media, team members, and the general public.

Excellent organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.
