The
Senior Radio Communications Systems Engineer
serves as a technical lead, driving engineering projects and delivering expert‑level support for the County’s radio communications infrastructure. This position works within the Sheriff’s Office Wireless Services Division and blends engineering, analytical, and project management in the County’s radio communications systems. Responsibilities include analyzing, coordinating, designing, and maintaining telecommunications systems, equipment, and associated circuits for the transmission, reception, and display of voice, data, and other information on wireless communication systems; collaborating with division personnel to execute system upgrades, implement new technologies, and configure engineered solutions with existing and new communications systems.
Qualifications
Possession of a bachelor’s degree from a U.S. accredited college or university, or a certified foreign studies equivalency, in electrical engineering, electronics engineering, telecommunications engineering, or a closely related field.
Five (5) years of full‑time professional‑level engineering experience in electronic communications, including work with large, multi‑site radio and/or microwave networks; or an equivalent combination of education and experience that totals nine (9) years.
Professional level experience performing engineering and analytical work on land mobile radios, trunked radio systems, microwave transport networks, and IP‑based communications systems is highly desirable.
Thorough knowledge of computer programs used for engineering design and drawing, such as AutoCAD, is highly desirable.
Evaluation Process Qualified applicants will be placed on a nine (9)-month employment list based on scores received during the evaluation of information contained in the employment and supplemental applications. The review will confirm the accuracy and qualification of the information provided.
