Location:

St. Luke’s Hospital - New Bedford, MA

Hours:

24 flex 32hrs

Shift:

Night shift, 11:15pm – 7:15am with weekend and holiday rotation

Compensation:

USD $16.11 - $26.02 / hr (pay rate based on experience)

Schedule:

Every other weekend and holiday rotation

Regular status employees scheduled to work a minimum of 24 hours

Responsibilities Under the supervision of the Manager, Patient Care or designee, provide continuous observation and monitoring of up to 16 high‑risk patients at risk for potential injury to self or others. Operate Tele Sitter Video Monitoring system, perform safety rounding and patient checks, and maintain the fleet of video monitoring equipment (delivery, pickup, cleaning). Use appropriate tone, language and de‑escalation techniques. Prioritize simultaneous situations, communicate with hospital staff, respond quickly to patient behavioral changes, and use a microphone and headset. Accurately document and provide thorough shift hand‑off reports while supporting patient and institutional confidentiality.

Bilingual in English and Portuguese preferred.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent

Secondary healthcare training including mental health experience preferred

Experience caring for patients with behavioral issues required

Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office

Ability to remain calm in crisis and emergency situations required

Highly effective interpersonal, customer service and communication skills

Previous similar patient care experience preferred (minimum one year)

Efficiency in multitasking and ability to prioritize simultaneous situations

Must be fully vaccinated against seasonal influenza and COVID‑19 or be exempt by signing a statement
