The Department of Journalism and Media Management at the University of Miami seeks a tenure‑track Assistant Professor whose research and teaching advance public‑facing science communication, journalism, and media studies. Candidates who can bridge journalism, media, and scientific disciplines and who are committed to interdisciplinary collaboration are encouraged to apply.
Responsibilities
- Conduct research in science, health, or environmental journalism or media studies with potential for obtaining external funding.
- Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in journalism, media studies, and science communication.
- Advise and mentor students, and consult with the student climate journalism TV program.
- Develop interdisciplinary curricula and minors supporting science majors seeking communication expertise.
- Collaborate across university environmental, health, and science units.
- Contribute to departmental, school, and university service.
Qualifications
- Ph.D. in Journalism, Media Studies, Communication, or a related field.
- Demonstrated potential for scholarly research and publication.
- Experience in journalism, broadcast media, media studies, or science communication preferred.
- Ability to teach and mentor students across majors.
- Commitment to inclusive teaching and research.
