Tactical Design Manager Founded in 1919 as Phototype and recently rebranded as the Olberding Brand Family, we are a family company focused on delivering the highest quality and client service in the graphics design, management and printing industry. The Tactical Design Manager (TDM) partners with our clients as the go-to person on the brand for executing and project managing day-to-day activities in the packaging graphics artwork process. The TDM provides the “feet on the ground” for all Olberding Brand Family services, giving the client project leadership and serving as an advocate for the client’s brands. The TDM demonstrates strong project management skills, and partners with other key stakeholders (internal and external) to ensure client’s expectations are satisfied or exceeded.

The TDM’s primary responsibilities are supporting the client by providing strong leadership to drive the production of tactical packaging graphics projects to completion and collaborating with Olberding Brand Family teams on the internal process of converting a design frozen design file into commercially reproducible artwork. The TDM is all about the details: tasks, deadlines, communication, and accuracy.

Duties and Responsibilities Include:

Manage day-to-day activities in the artwork process for packaging graphics/special projects for assigned group of brand(s); communicate, document and direct projects across disciplines

Participate in client cross-functional meetings

Gather and validate all inputs and their accuracy for order initiation

Establish and communicate the timeline for all projects, and ensure all parties are informed of impending project changes that impact the deliverable or timing

Ensure milestones are kept on task and all team members have necessary items to complete

Facilitate weekly status meetings with internal design and production teams

Accountable for the graphic routing and approval process

Provide a high level of customer service, with proactive thought, action and follow-up to both external and internal clients

Manage estimates and client budgets

Facilitate open and regular communication between key stakeholders to ensure clear understanding of project requirements and objectives

Onboard new team members, both internal and external

Leverage consumer insights and knowledge of client’s business to add value to creative development

Qualifications Include:

Strong project management and organization skills

Possess a client service mindset: passionate about servicing the client, the team and other OBF employees

Assertive, process oriented and proactive problem solving

Working knowledge of business software such as Office, FileMaker Pro and Acrobat

3-5 years’ experience in packaging graphics management, account/project management, customer service, or print production management

Experience with consumer products packaging, creative design, and production artwork

College degree (e.g., Bachelor of Arts) or equivalent experience within appropriate discipline such as Business, Graphic Arts, Marketing, Communications, or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the job required
