Duties/Responsibilities
Help plan and develop designs for transportation facilities for private, commercial, and public sector clients.
Collaborate with clients, utility companies, government agencies, and/or the general public to identify project constraints and develop design alternatives and concepts for transportation improvement projects.
Develop and present design study reports in accordance with government agency criteria.
Prepare plans, specifications, and engineer's estimates for construction of:
Roadways, trails, traffic signals, and non-motorized transportation systems.
Roadway resurfacing and rehabilitation projects.
Collect traffic data and perform traffic studies and analysis.
Work with permitting agency staff to meet local code requirements.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Thorough understanding of civil engineering concepts and practices.
Excellent interpersonal skills.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Familiarity with Municipality of Anchorage, State of Alaska Department of Transportation & Public Facilities, and/or Washington State Department of Transportation standards and design criteria.
Education and Experience
Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering required.
Licensed engineer-in-training.
Proficient AutoCAD Civil 3D and Microsoft Office products.
Ability to work in a team environment with multi-discipline engineering staff at various experience levels.
Physical Requirements
Must be able to travel to various project sites.
Must be able to access and navigate job sites and construction areas.
